Septic Sand

Septic Sand, also known as Filter Sand, is a specialized, high-permeability aggregate engineered specifically for wastewater treatment systems. Unlike standard fill sand, septic sand is rigorously washed and screened to meet strict OPSS (Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications) regarding grain size and "fineness" modulus. This ensures a consistent percolation rate, allowing effluent to pass through the medium at a controlled pace. This controlled flow is vital for the natural aerobic bacteria to effectively break down contaminants before the water safely re-enters the local groundwater table.
